EMC Sports - The Junior B Jets appear ready to take off, just as the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League playoff loom.

The Jets have not had a regulation-time loss in five games and recently picked up three of a possible four points against their nearest rival, the Clarence Beavers.

Metcalfe took three leads against the Ottawa Canadians during a visit to the Brian Kilrea arena, before dropping a 5-4 overtime decision.

Zachary Coakeley open the scoring with a power-play goal at 11:34 of the first period. Coakeley's 20th of the year was assisted by Kyle Peterson and Eric Witzel.

The Jets extended their lead just 56 seconds into the second frame when Derek Nooyen, assisted by Michael McMurtry, notched his 10th of the season.

Nick Gianetto brought the Canadians back, scoring at 14:49 and 15:19 to tie the game at two heading into the final period.

Kyle Downey's 12th of the season, an unassisted goal just 35 seconds into the third, gave Metcalfe a lead. Jason Crooke responded exactly one minute later on the power play to tie the score at 3-3.

Mr. Witzel gave the Jets their third lead of the contest when he found net at 10:20. Mr. Witzel's eighth of the season was set up by Mr. McMurtry and Mr. Coakeley.

Conor McVeigh's power-play goal tied the game at 14:46 and Andrew Mott scored at 3:26 of overtime to give Ottawa the win. Karl Labelle stopped 52 shots for the Jets.

Metcalfe completed a home-and-home series with Clarence by posting a 4-3 win on Feb. 7. The victory followed a 4-3 overtime loss on Feb. 5.

On Feb. 7, the Beavers took a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Jamie Begin and James May, but the Jets took flight in the second frame, scoring three unanswered goals.

Kyle Larson cued the comeback with his second goal of season 2:07 into the period. Derek Nooyen and Scott Fleming earned the assists.

Mr. McMurtry's pair of goals gave the Jets the lead heading into the final frame. He scored at 5:31 assisted by Derek Nooyen and again at 14:41. Derek Nooyen and Mr. Fleming set up the go-ahead goal.

Tyler Fradette tied things for the Beavers 5:11 into the final period, but McMurtry completed his hat trick with the game winner, unassisted, at 14:46. Mr. Labelle stopped 39 shots for the win in this match.

Playing at the Larry Robinson arena Feb. 5, the Jets again fell behind 2-0 after the first after Mr. Clarence got goals from Jason Talbot and Mr. Fradette, but Cameron Bakker led a second-period comeback.

Scoring his second and third goals of the season the game tied at 2-2 heading into the third period. Mr. Bakker's first goal, and second of year, came at 6:36 and was assisted by Mr. McMurtry and Derek Nooyen. The game-tying goal came at 11:30 with Mr. McMurtry and Mr. Nooyen again earning the assists.

Mr. Nooyen gave the Jets their first lead of the contest when he scored his ninth of the year 2:05 into the period. Assists went to Mr. McMurtry and Mr. Bakker.

Phillippe Patry tied the score at 3-3 with just 1:39 left to play and Pascal Brisson gave the visitors the win when he scored 4:12 into overtime. In this game, Labelle stopped 48 shots for the Jets.
