Watson's Mill camp deciphers writing on the wall

Posted Mar 12, 2010 By Charelle Evelyn

EMC Events - For any young person who sees a spray painted tag on a wall and wants to know what it means as opposed to how quickly it can be removed, Watson's Mill has a program you might be interested in.

The theme of this year's March Break day camp at the Mill is "Writing on Walls." The program, which runs on March 15, will allow participants to explore how stories are told through graffiti and what insights a seemingly meaningless inscription can give to the lives of people who have come before. This includes prehistoric wall paintings, ancient Roman impressions and modern day tagging.

The camp is for children between the ages of six and 12 years old. They will have the opportunity to recreate the styles and mediums different artists have used throughout the years and compare them to the graffiti found throughout Watson's Mill.

To register, contact Cam Trueman at Watson's Mill at (613) 692-6455.
